After spending months knee-deep in the inner workings of Beat Mirror’s tempo detection algorithm, we’re happy to announce the newest version of Beat Mirror is now available! It’s a big one. We’ve rebuilt the algorithm from scratch so that tempo can be detected for not just drums, but a wide variety of instruments, recorded tracks, live band practices, and more! Here’s a refresher on how it works:

• Beat Mirror uses your iPhone or iPad’s built-in microphone to detect BPM (beats-per-minute) while you play.
• Set a target tempo with the special tap-for-tempo feature and then start playing!
• Your tempo and tempo history appear in real-time, guiding you towards your best playing yet.
