We are very happy to announce some news about the upcoming Waay course. It’s called Intervals and it involves a deep dive into musical intervals—and what you can do with them!
Intervals are an incredibly useful topic. But in addition to being useful on their own, a thorough understanding of intervals also acts as a powerful springboard to future topics you’ll encounter in Waay.
The upcoming Intervals course will cover brand new topics like all of the intervals you haven’t learned yet, a new type of chord, how (and why) we reach into different octaves, new names for old friends, skills for moving songs into any key we like, and a whole lot more.
But most importantly, we keep to the Waay approach of making music theory practical. Music theory, as far as we’re concerned, exists to help you write music, to help you understand and appreciate the music you love, and to empower you. Music theory should serve your musical passion—not the other way around.
And there’s one thing that the new course is not. It’s not about “exposure” learning, where the information is just thrown at you, and whatever sticks, sticks. No way! Waay is about connecting with you and really teaching you this stuff.
You are going to put all this exciting, practical knowledge to use throughout the course. Interactive exercises are sprinkled between bite-sized video lessons. Audio examples throughout the course bring the topics to life. And finally, the Practice Space uses memory retention tools to ensure everything you’re learning sticks around for the long-term.
